Donation faq's
What are donations used for?
We sponsor training for skydivers at host dropzones across the country, specifically for canopy piloting skills. Training course fees normally cost between $150-$200. Donations help cover the cost of the instructor’s travel and time for each day-long camp event. This ensures partner dropzones can offer essential skills training; attendees pay for their own jump plus equipment/packer, if desired.
Our goal is accessibility, so if you attend we ask that you consider donating part or all of the normal $150-$200 fee to continue the mission of Izzy’s Wing. In addition, the Memorial Fund by Izzy’s Wing steps in to help eligible skydivers who are recovering from jump-related injuries. We help skydivers or instructors who are not insured or have inadequate insurance and who have a financial need.
Additionally, in the event a skydiver loses their life, Izzy’s Wing may also assist with the costs related to funeral-related expenses.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes! Izzy’s Wing is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our online donation platform is convenient, secure, and easy to use.
Do I need experience to volunteer?
No experience is required but familiarity with the host DZ and/or skydiving is helpful. Volunteer roles will not include jumps or any equipment handling during the event. A warm smile and a willing spirit are all you need!

memorial fund faq's
Who can apply for financial assistance?
Priority is given to individuals employed in the skydiving industry who have been injured on the job and who anticipate loss of wages. Other individuals also may be eligible to apply. Memorial Fund financial assistance is provided on a case-by-case basis with priority given to those with documented outstanding medical bills related to a skydiving injury.
How much does the fund provide for medical expenses?
Izzy’s Wing can only provide supplemental financial assistance. Memorial Fund allocations will depend on the level of need, completed documentation, and availability of donated funds. Izzy’s Wing is committed to using donated funds to support its mission and will direct fund usage with the utmost integrity.
Are non-medical expenses eligible for memorial fund assistance?
For skydiving professionals who face prolonged absence from work, we may be able to help with non-medical expenses. For loved ones whose family member was in a skydiving accident, the Memorial Fund may be able to help pay for travel or other costs.
What kind of records do I need to upload in order to apply?
The Memorial Fund cannot cover medical bills already paid for by health insurance. We will pay the provider directly once funds are awarded. Please visit our application portal for more information about required documentation, including proof of financial need.
My dropzone wants to get involved – how can we do that?
Izzy’s Wing hosts seasonal canopy skills camps at DZs across the country and we pay for the instructor’s time and travel. We accept tax-deductible donations and are required to follow 501(c)3 rules. Donations are not able to be earmarked for a specific individual, but our mission is to support our skydiving community. If you know someone who is injured, we will review the application and eligibility with the utmost integrity.
How can I get more information before applying?
Please email izzys_wing@Izzyswing.com or use our contact form for more information on Izzy’s Wing Memorial Fund. If you’re a dropzone owner/operator or a loved one of a skydiver who may be eligible for assistance, we’d love to hear from you. Canopy Coaching faq's
What are the canopy coaching options?
- Stevie Simpson will be traveling in July and August 2025 offering free canopy coaching and mentorship opportunities. Please have your DZO contact Izzy’s Wing. While the coaching is free of charge, donations are encouraged so that Izzy’s Wing can continue to support safety, training and fellowship into the future.
- Izzy’s Wing has partnered with Flight-1 this inaugural season, please see the canopy coaching skills page on our website
- Inclement weather and rescheduling. Courses taught by professional organizations will follow that organizations policies. Stevie Simpson Road Show will not be rescheduled . The events are free of charge, so participants miss out on the opportunity, but not any impact to their funds.
How soon can I schedule an event?
- Scheduling with Flight-1 is dependent on a flight one coach being available. This could be done on a relatively short term basis
- Scheduling with Stevie Simpson Road Show will need to be coordinated based on his location as he will be “road tripping” during 2025.
Is there a minimum number of participants for a canopy coaching event?
The ideal class size is 6 or more, but we can work with as few as 3 participants per day.
